The Advantages and Correct Usage of Columnar Carburizing Agents

Columnar carburetor is named after its cylindrical appearance. It is a good smelting material in casting, and the use of columnar carburetor in casting has the advantages of high absorption rate, fast speed, and low sulfur content. It can play a good role in inoculation, improve the distribution of a-b graphite, improve the quality of castings, and reduce costs. I have to say that it has many advantages. However, Products with many advantages cannot be used correctly and cannot achieve better results. Only by using columnar carburetors correctly can the sulfur and nitrogen absorption rate be reduced to below 0.05% and below 100ppm. Only by using columnar carburetors correctly can the advantages of columnar carburetors be fully utilized.


The correct method of using columnar carburetor is as follows:

When using an induction furnace for smelting, different amounts should be used according to the technical requirements of the enterprise. When using a medium frequency electric furnace for smelting, the proportion or carbon equivalent design requirements should be followed by material management to enter the lower part of the electric furnace, with a recovery rate of over 95%. When using a low-temperature columnar carburetor process, which only melts the conductive part of the furnace material and analyzes the temperature of the molten iron, adjust the carbon iron smelting. If it is insufficient, clean the slag and add carburetor, By increasing the temperature of molten iron or manually electromagnetic stirring to dissolve carbon absorption, the recovery rate is about 90%. Carburizer should be placed in liquid iron at once, and charged with solid in liquid iron, so as not to show the surface of molten iron. This method can increase the carbon content of molten iron by more than 1.0%.

The correct use method for external carbonized columnar carburetors is to pack 100-300 mesh graphite powder into a bag or to flush it into the tapping groove at a certain flow rate. After the production of molten iron, carbon is dissolved and absorbed as much as possible, and the carbon recovery rate is about 60%. Graphite powder can be used as a carburetor, with a blowing speed of 40 kilograms, which is expected to increase the carbon content of molten iron from 2% to 3%. Generally speaking, nitrogen is a carrier that uses graphite powder to spray carbon. It is more convenient to use compressed air. In addition, the combustion of oxygen in compressed air generates CO, and the heat of chemical reaction can compensate for partial cooling. As the carbon content in molten iron gradually increases, the utilization rate of carbon gradually decreases.

From this, it can be seen that the correct use of columnar carburetors can effectively improve the use effect. Columnar carburetors themselves have many advantages, but many do not use the correct methods during use, resulting in a decrease in the use effect of columnar carburetors and an increase in usage.
